INFORMATION AND REGISTRATION EVENING

Tuesday 7th September will be our first registration and parent’s evening.  We invite parents and guardians to come along and experience with us what we do and how we do it.  You will have the opportunity to find out more about our company, what we work towards, about camp, uniform, important dates and much more.  You will be required at this time if you have not already done so to complete the required consent and information form.  This will begin at 6:30 in the ‘hub’ area.  At 7pm you will be invited to join your child/children in their section for a taster of the fun they have.  We hope you will support us on Tuesday and very much look forward to welcoming you as honorary ‘girls’ for the evening. 

DEDICATION SERVICE – SUNDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER 2010

Sunday 19th September will be our annual dedication parade, this year the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade are coming together to host a joint service of dedication in which many of the children and young people in our companies will play a lead role.  All girls should attend and be at the church at 10:30am in full uniform, sweatshirt, polo shirt, school skirt, white ankle or knee high socks and armbands.  This is a very important service for us and a full attendance is essential and would be very greatly appreciated.  The service will finish around 12:15.  Parents and guardians are very welcome to stay for the service and be involved in this special morning.  The church provides a crèche facility and Junior Church at which other siblings can attend.  If your daughter does not have uniform yet they should wear their school uniform.

UNIFORM

Uniform can be ordered any Tuesday night and must be paid for at that time.  Explorer polo shirts are £8.75 and sweatshirts £9.70, Junior polo shirts are £8.75 and sweatshirts £10.50 and Brigader gold polo shirts range from £9.55-£12.40 and sweatshirts from £9.70-£11.90.

Girls’ Brigade Camp June 2011

This session we will be visiting Whitaugh Park, Newcastleton in the Scottish Borders for a fun filled weekend of activities from Friday 24^th June to Sunday 26^th June 2011.  We have visited the park on numerous occasions and girls and officers alike have really enjoyed the experiences and activities that are on offer.

 All girls who will be in Primary Four upwards in August 2011 are welcome to attend where they will take part in two instructor led activities, go swimming in a private pool with two fully qualified lifeguards, take part in group challenges, learn new skills and most importantly have a brilliant time!

 The final cost is yet to be confirmed but will be in the region of £75 to £80.  This covers two nights accommodation, all meals, two instructor led activities, a swim, entertainment and insurance.  Transport is not included in this cost at present as we aim with the help of parents and friends of our company to raise enough money to cover the cost of the coach.

 Numbers are limited to 38 people and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.  If you wish your child to attend a non refundable deposit of £10 is payable no later than September 7^th 2010.

Fees

2^nd Hamilton Girls’ Brigade is a non profit organisation and we rely on annual fees paid by each girl in order to survive.  This fee goes towards paying an annual fee per child to Girls’ Brigade Scotland, purchases end of year awards and trophies and with funds raised throughout the year goes towards providing essential equipment and exciting and interesting activities and events. 

 This year Girls’ Brigade Scotland has increased the amount that we pay them for each child’s registration, however, we have taken the decision to freeze ours at £20 per session. 

 Fees can be paid as one lump sum of £40 or in two instalments of £20 to be paid by September 14^th 2010 and January 25^th 2011.  As in previous years discounts are available to families with one than one daughter in attendance.  The cost will be £30 for two children, £40 for three.  

If anyone has any difficulty with the cost please speak to Captain Susan McLean as soon as possible.

All sections returned back on Tuesday with almost 40 girls coming along and 4 new girls, plenty room for lots more.  Start spreading the word!

Girls Brigade

The Girls Brigade starts back on Tuesday 17th August at 6.00pm for all ages. We look forward to seeing all the girls back after the summer break and to meeting with any new girls that want to join us.

Girls Brigade Annual Display

The Girls Brigade annual display is now to be held on Tuesday 18th May at 7pm. Everyone will be made most welcome at this event.

Girls Brigade Disclosure and Safety

All officers within the GB must go through a disclosure process before being able to work with any children.

At the end of the night we will not allow any Explorers to leave the Church building unless there is a responsible adult ready to collect them especially during the winter nights when it is dark.

Girls Brigade Fees

In our company we work over 2 sessions per year, September to December and January to May and the fees are £20.00 per session.

Could we ask that these be paid promptly by the end of May and September. If you have more that 1 child in the company this will reduce to £10 for a second sister and £7.50 for every other sister. This money pays for equipment for Arts & Crafts and fees we have to pay direct to Head Quarters for each child.

Fees can be paid in advance.

Girls Brigade Uniform

We are a uniformed organisation and would urge you to purchase uniform for your daughter.
All girls and officers were different coloured swear shirts and polo shirts. Suitable dark trousers/joggy bottoms, navy skirts, school shoes on official outings and footwear suitable for games on company nights.
At the very minimum we would ask you to purchase a sweatshirt for your daughter, white school polo shirts can be used until one is purchased.
Orders for sweatshirts and polo shirts can be made any Tuesday evening These can be paid up over a few weeks and orders must be paid in full before we can purchase them from Head Quarters.
