SAFETY

All officers within the GB must go through a disclosure process before being able to work with any children.

At the end of the night we will not allow any Explorers to leave the Church building unless there is a responsible adult ready to collect them especially during the winter nights when it is dark.

Who? - 2nd Hamilton Company

When? - P1- S1 and above meet at 6:00-7:30 Tuesday evenings

Where? - Hillhouse Parish Church

Please note that with effect from January 5th 2010 all age groups will meet between 6:00-7:30 on a Tuesday.

UNIFORM

We are a uniformed organisation and would urge you to purchase uniform for your daughter.

All girls and officers were different coloured swear shirts and polo shirts. Suitable dark trousers/joggy bottoms, navy skirts, school shoes on official outings and footwear suitable for games on company nights.

At the very minimum we would ask you to purchase a sweatshirt for your daughter, white school polo shirts can be used until one is purchased.

Orders for sweatshirts and polo shirts can be made any Tuesday evening These can be paid up over a few weeks and orders must be paid in full before we can purchase them from Head Quarters.

FEES

In our company we work over 2 sessions per year, September to December and January to May and the fees are £20.00 per session, payment for the first session is now due. Could we ask that this be paid by the end of September. If you have more that 1 child in the company this will reduce to £10 for a second sister and £7.50 for every other sister. This money pays for equipment for Arts & Crafts and fees we have to pay direct to Head Quarters for each child.

Fees can be paid in advance.

Jean McMillan will be available every Tuesday between 7:15 & 7:45 for ALL sections to collect any monies paid. Parents of Explorers & Juniors please pay when you return to collect your daughter/s Brigaders, please pay before your section starts.

CHANGES TO STAFF

This is the first news letter of our new session. No doubt some of you will know that Joyce Hosie retired in May this year as captain.

Joyce is not leaving GB altogether. She holds a position within our local Division and will be keeping in touch with the company.

The new captain is Susan McLean (McMillan), Susan married Barry McLean in June (many of you were in the choir / gaurd of honour).

If you wish any information on the company please do not hesitate to contact Susan at the church any Tuesday evening.

NEW HALLS

Our Church Halls are being renovated which is going to result in some inconvenience for a few months. It is anticipated that the work starts this week and will be finished in time for Christmas. During this period we ask for your co-operation in many things.

Firstly, we will be meeting in the Church itself each Tuesday and would ask you to ensure Explorers and Juniors have soft shoes for games etc. Also during this work we will be reduced to 1 toilet-to this end it would help if girls paid a visit before they left home.

Access to the Church will only be through a door at the rear of the building, to get there follow the arrow at the top, follow the path right round, passed metal shutter door, through large metal gate, go round the building and the door is in the left hand corner
