Guild of Friendship
This meeting was originally set up for people (ladies and gentlemen) who have found it difficult to get out at night. It is thought that happened over fifty years ago. Now adays it does seem to cater for the over fifties but have a number younger than that. Today our speakers are made up from all spheres of the community i.e. The Haven Credit Union, health talks and fun afternoons. We have members afternoons to address outings and its at these we entertain ourselves. We have a cup of tea on arrival to start the meeting, a small devotion and then the speaker. We try to have two outings per year. This year Port Patrick in June and Pebbles in August and occasionally a trip to Harry Ramsdens of New Lanark. At Christmas we have a meal sometimes in and sometimes out and excellent time at our closing day. We fill boxes for the Blythwood Trust and collect coppers to buy footballs for little boys at Christmas and suitable gifts for little girls. Gentlemen are welcome aswell as ladies and at present we have three. We meet on Tuesdays from 2.00pm-3.00pm (we sometimes run over but not too long). Our first meeting og the winter will be Tuesday September 16th. Hope to see you there. Contacts for more information: Myra Fisher Irene MacDermot Betty McNeill Charlotte Craig |
