About the Mens Club

Since its first meeting eight years ago when three gentlemen turned up, the Mens Club has become a well established organisation of our Church with a membership of around thirty. The Club is open to all men and meets normally on alternate Mondays at 7.30pm.

The members enjoy listening to speakers whose expertise covers a great variety of subjects, e.g. our coming session includes a minister, a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman and experts on such matters as Hearing Dogs for the Deaf, scotch whisky, poetry, town twinning, World Mission (presbytery) and the work of "The Haven". Most of the local politicians, M.P.s and Councillors have enjoyed a "warm" welcome over the years as well.

A feature of the Men's Club is a question and discussion time, after tea, with our guests which most enjoy. We also have every year a musical evening with Yvonne and the Choir.

We have an annual outing which this year was to Roslin Chapel and the Scottish Museum of Mining. This year we also paid a visit to Airdrie Astronomical Observatory as guests of the Astra Society.

The Men's Club takes a special interest in supporting the work of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and in providing tapes of the Church services for those unable to attend and in presenting tapes of baptismal services to parents.
